Today, the Organizing Committee and FIS gave the green light for the 12th Cross-Country World Cup weekend in Otepää, Estonia.
“The
snow conditions and weather forecast are sufficient to guarantee a
nice World Cup event in Otepää,“ said Jürg Capol, FIS Race Director.
“With some natural and manmade snow, the OC is prepared for another
World Cup weekend in the Tehvandi.”
As
has become traditional for the Otepää World Cup the schedule foresees a
sprint competition on Saturday, 21st January, while the distance races
over 10 km (ladies) and 15 km (men) will take place on Sunday 22nd
January.
The
World Cup in Otepää is very popular among Cross-Country skiers. Both
Tour de Ski winners Justyna Kowalczyk and Dario Cologna plan to compete
in Otepää and earn as many points as possible for the overall World
Cup which is their next goal. “Otepää is one of my favorite places. The
course and audience are great and I enjoy racing there each time,”
said Justyna Kowalcyzk.
