Otepää is ready for the FIS Cross-Country World Cup

Today, the Organizing Committee and FIS gave the green light for the 12th Cross-Country World Cup weekend in Otepää, Estonia.
“The snow conditions and weather forecast are sufficient to guarantee a nice World Cup event in Otepää,“ said Jürg Capol, FIS Race Director. “With some natural and manmade snow, the OC is prepared for another World Cup weekend in the Tehvandi.”
As has become traditional for the Otepää World Cup the schedule foresees a sprint competition on Saturday, 21st January, while the distance races over 10 km (ladies) and 15 km (men) will take place on Sunday 22nd January.
The World Cup in Otepää is very popular among Cross-Country skiers. Both Tour de Ski winners Justyna Kowalczyk and Dario Cologna plan to compete in Otepää and earn as many points as possible for the overall World Cup which is their next goal. “Otepää is one of my favorite places. The course and audience are great and I enjoy racing there each time,” said Justyna Kowalcyzk.

FIS Cross-Country World Cup continues with classical races in Estonian Otepää and the Swedish team is travelling to Otepää in full strength.
After the sprint weekend in Milano where the Swedish coaches gave a World Cup chance for youngsters. Some of the Swedish skiers have been sick but the line up for Otepää shows, the team is back in full strength. Last weekend Johan Olsson showed a solid performance at the FIS Scandinavian Cup as well as Sara Lindborg.
FIS Cross-Country World Cup is featuring in Otepää classical sprint on Saturday and 10/15 km Classic on Sunday.
