European Champion Tatiana Ivanova will not start

Winterberg (pps) Due to injury, European Champion Tatiana Ivananova will not be able to compete in the women’s singles at the upcoming Viessmann Luge World Cup event in Winterberg (race on Sunday, January 22, 2012 / start at 09:45 hrs). The Olympic fourth-placed suffered a broken ring finger (right hand) last weekend in Oberhof, when she awkwardly touched the boards in the run-off. On sixth place after the first run, the 21-year-old then crashed in the second run and did not finish the run.

The Russian team hopes that Ivanova, currently on sixth place in the overall Viessmann Luge World Cup rankings, will be returning to competition at the next stop in St. Moritz (January 28-29, 2012). During the current season, Tatiana Ivanano already earned two third place finishes at the World Cup events in Whistler and Calgary.

New “cardiovascular system” for the bobsleigh track Winterberg /
Refrigeration technology as well as measuring and control system brand new

Winterberg (pps) The bobsleigh track “Winterberg Hochsauerland” in Germany
has been completely refurbished and has received, so to speak, a new
„cardiovascular system“. At an expenditure of about 2.5 million Euros a
new high-performance refrigeration technology has been installed,
additionally a modern measuring and control system has been set up.
Together with new compressors and a further improved roofing for the
track, all these measures will ensure even more efficient work procedures
and minimize energy consumption.

Thus, the bobsleigh track “Winterberg Hochsauerland” will once again live
up to its reputation as one of the most state-of-the-art tracks
world-wide. The extensive renovations will be put to a first “practical
test” during the Viessmann Luge World Cup event on December 4-5, 2010.
Highlight of the winter season are the FIBT European Bobsleigh and
Skeleton Championships which will be carried out within the Viessmann
World Cup series on January 21-23. However, until February 27, 2011 – this
amounts to a total of 27 operation weeks – the Winterberg sports calendar
boasts numerous additional events.

So now, it’s essential for Eismeister Bjoern Liese and his crew to get
acquainted as fast as possible with the new equipment and systems.
Extensive construction works and installations as well as software
adjustments with engineering consultants and qualified contractors had to
be carried out prior to the first refrigeration in order to adapt the
computer-based control system to the new refrigeration technology.
