Biathlon,
winter sport in which competitors cross-country ski over a prepared
course, pausing at intervals to shoot at targets with a rifle. The
difficulty and excitement of the biathlon lie in its diverse physical
requirements. Skiing demands strength and endurance, while shooting
requires precision and calm. The term biathlon is Greek for “two
tests,” and though it most commonly refers to the winter sport, it is
occasionally used to refer to competitions that combine two summer
sports, such as bicycling and running.
But the truth is that Biathlon sport is much more than this. Thousands of fans are confirming this every year when they get the stadiums rocking.
Magdalena Neuner
On Sunday I’ve pushed the Delete-key after the race. Everybody makes mistakes; that’s normal. My strength at shooting range is based on mental toughness which I’ve been working on in the last three years. Currently I’m feeling so comfortable at shooting range but there were times when it was completely different. Of course I want to keep the yellow bib until the season final and I will do everything so I can keep it. There are five or six other girls, all of whom very good and that makes it so exciting. What’s the expression? Competition is good for business.
Kaisa Mäkäräinen
I have some difficulties if competitions take place in high altitude because we do not too much training in such an altitude and we don’t live there either. It was very exhausting today as I flew home for the Athletes’ Gala and therefore I couldn’t really regenerate. Thus I’m even happier about my performance. Of course I want to win the World Cup but Magdalena and Darya, who are sitting right next to me, are also very strong. We will see.
Darya Domracheva
The last lap of this Sprint competition was very difficult but it was a lot of fun. It was a good duel between myself and Magdalena Neuner in the end. I love Antholz and I feel so comfortable here. That’s the reason why I love competing here. But due to the altitude it is very difficult
