End of January, it's time for the race boarders of the 2012 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup to put on their hard boots and get ready for some head to head racing. On Saturday, January 28th, the season's seventh parallel event is on at Sudelfeld. The only German World Cup host of this winter's calendar will organize a parallel giant slalom.

Besides both World Cup leaders, Patrizia Kummer (SUI, 3,640 points) and Roland Fischnaller (ITA, 4,130), two other riders of the international top class field are in the spot light as they have been the dominating ones at the two World Cup events which have been held in the winter sport area of Sudelfeld/Bayrischzell/Oberaudorf so far.

On the men's side, all eyes are on Andreas Prommegger (AUT) as he is aiming for a three-peat on the race hill at Waldkopf.

On the women's side, local hero Amelie Kober (photo) has been the most successful female rider at Sudelfeld. In January 2009, she finished as runner-up behind of Doris Guenther (AUT) who already retired from active racing. In February 2010, she came out first.

“I will give it my best shot again, of course. Having a World Cup on home soil is something very special. I'm very excited already. We'll see how it goes,” said the 2006 Olympic Silver medalist just a few days prior to the event.

This understatement doesn't come by chance although Kober can look back on some good PGS results this season already: in Telluride (USA), the 24-years-old mother of one finished third, in Carezza (ITA) second.

However, her competition is strong: “My main rivals would be my team mates as well as the girls from Austria and Switzerland.”

Especially Patrizia Kummer as she took over the scene by storm just recently winning three consecutive parallel slaloms thus extending her World Cup lead. “She has proven that she is fast on every kind of course”, spoke Kober in high terms of her exact one month older contestant from Valais.

Don't Miss The Excitation........ Watch Live & Enjoy......
