Introduction:
Todays professional rodeo holds a distinct position in the world of modern sports having come directly from a working-lifestyle. Early rodeo began as the everyday chores of working ranches on the great plains of the American West. Read the Rodeo History article for more information. These chores would eventually evolve into the unique rodeo events that we enjoy todayRodeo is also unique in that it is a sport made up of several different events, each with their own style of competition, rules, and rewards. While there are many events that are specific to different regions of the U.S. and world, seven are recognized as standard events in most professional rodeo.
Early History :-
When America expanded westward in the 1800's, the pioneers incorporated the dress and techniques of the Spanish and Mexican ranchers. They raised the cattle that fed Americans during the 19th century, and had to travel around the country sending the cattle for consumption. During these long journeys, these American cowboys would have competitions to see who was the best herder, roper and rider. These competitions led to Wild Wild West shows formed by legends like Buffalo Bill Cody, which was the forerunner to what we know today as the modern rodeo competitions.
