The 2012 Canadian Figure Skating Championships
are a figure skating competition during the 2011–2012 season. The event
determines the national champions of Canada and is organized by Skate Canada, the nation's figure skating governing body.
Skaters
will compete at the senior, junior, and novice levels in the
disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Although the official International Skating Union terminology for female skaters in the singles category is ladies, Skate Canada uses women officially.
The senior competition will be held from January 16 to 22, 2012 at the Moncton Coliseum in Moncton, New Brunswick.[1][2]
The results of this competition may be used to pick the Canadian teams
to the 2012 Four Continents, the 2012 Junior Worlds, and the 2012 World
Championships.

The 2012 Canadian Figure Skating Championships continued with the junior pairs short program. Katherine Bobak and Ian Beharry (WO) took a solid lead, followed by Krystel Desjardins and Charlie Bilodeau (QC) and Mary Orr and Anthony Furiano (WO).
All eyes were on Bobak and Beharry who did not disappoint the modest crowd at the Moncton Coliseum. The new team has progressed quickly and recently won the silver medal at the
Junior
Grand Prix Final. No other pair in the field even had international
experience, so Bobak and Beharry seemed head and shoulders above the
field from the start.
To the untrained eye, their Out of Africa program may have looked perfect, but an edge call on their side-by-side double Lutzes did negatively affect their score. Still, the duo earned 51.17 points, in part because of picture-perfect elements like their high lateral double twist and a beauty of a throw triple loop.
“I thought it was as good as we can do in a short,” Beharry said. “Our score was great, and everything was good today.”
